Program Notes:
North Legend (2014), for mixed voices (SSAATTBB), is a setting of two Hart Crane (1899 - 1932) poems Legend and North Labrador. Rather than being set in succession, the Crane's poems are presented in an interwoven fashion. The juxtaposition of these two streams of meaning, allusion, and implication creates an interesting situation of negotiating the composite narrative and interpreting Crane's work.
