Flutterant

stereo electroacoustic music (2021) 5′00"

Program Notes:

Flutterant (2021), stereo electroacoustic music, takes inspiration from several disparate sources: the twittering and fluttering of birds, the perspective and antics of ants, and the noun utterance. Some of these words come together to form the title. Source materials for the work include recorded flute, tenor recorder, and percussion oddities. The work makes heavy use of granulation, algorithmic mixing and processing, as well as tape speed effects.

Flutterant was created with Max/MSP, Cecilia, and Ableton Live software environments. The work is a continuation of the composer research in algorithmic composition and manipulation of musical materials, signal processing, and the laptop as a musical instrument.
