Electric Cheesecake

Program Note
Electric Cheesecake (2025), for wind ensemble, was composed for Danny Galyen and the UNI Wind Ensemble. Inspired in part by the music of Aphex Twin, the piece embraces playful instability and absurdity while exploring interference patterns and isorhythmic textures.
What exactly is an electric cheesecake? Perhaps it is a melting cheesecake crowned with Tesla coils like birthday candles, a Frankenstein's monster made of cheesecake animated by lightning, or a toaster-oven cheesecake experiment gone catastrophically awry. The piece invites listeners to imagine their own impossible scenarios and consider what kind of strange film, game, or alternate reality this music might accompany.
